Wow. The Georgia Wine Blog. What a great idea
Iwas just at the Blackstock site, http://www.bsvw.com/index.shtml , after trying some of their wine. How delicious.
Wow!! is right. I just visited some of the wineries in N.Ga and was amazed at the beauty. The buds are popping on some of the vines adn the views were incredible. Wished I'd waited until this coming weekend for Ga wine highway weekend, that looks very cool. Nice wines, too. In hindsight, wished I'd bought more. Any advice on who has the best selection intown.
Does anyone know of a place locally where I can buy grapes to make my own wine?
Blackstock sells to home winemakers in 100lb increments. Just email the owner David and he can give you the details. You can find his email address on the Blackstock website under tab "Contact Us" tab.
Not this year, Alan. We have just sustained some extensive fruit losses to this last weekend's freeze. I think we will have enough fruit from secondary buds for a normal crush for our winery, but I don't think we will have any extra fruit to sell other wineries or home winemakers for 2007. Considering we sold about 150 tons last year to others, it is still a considerable hit, financially.
to anonymous..
In what town are you looking for Georgia wines?
Go to www.tigerwine.com to see where wines from Tiger Mountain Vineyards are carried.
David,
Sorry to hear that the April freeze hit you so hard. I'm guessing the other vineyards in north GA were equally affected? I hope things work out ok for you guys this year!
Alan
I am interested in who has good selections of GA wine in Buckhead or N. perimeter area.
I enjoyed my recent visit to the Georgia wine country! I had a wonderful wine tasting at Three Sisters Winery in Dahlonega and took some pictures of Frogstown as well. Photos and a recap are at my blog, Wine and Stories from the Vineyard.

We like riesling and were impressed by Habersham Winery's selection. We're hoping to see some of the wine boom--bloom?--spread our way in Northwest Georgia.
I had a wonderful visit to Blackstock Winery last year. My wife and I were so impressed with the wines that we purchased a case and had it sent to our home in California. I recently wrote about the reaction I got when I told people I had shipped Georgia Wine to California and the surprise when they tasted it for the first time. You can access my blog at www.thewinechannel.net (the first broadband broadcast channel about wine and the lifestyle it represents) Cheers David and Trish and keep up the good work.
Kudo's to Blackstock Vineyards and Winery for the high quality of the wines you produce! Your recent best Georgia Red Wine award is most certainly well-deserved.
The spectacular scenery and the relaxed friendly and welcoming atmosphere of your winery is super. Every time I visit your winery, I feel more like a family friend than just a "customer".
Keep up all the great work you are doing!
Thank you!
